Some time ago, I had an inspiration about developing a line of incense. The inspiration was based on the belief that smell is a very powerful sense. It has the power to remind us of our visions and dreams. My intention was to provide people with incense that would assist them in manifesting positive qualities in their lives. I asked my father to find a source of the incense for me in India, which he did. One Ashram was willing to create and supply us with incense. So I decided to offer incense as way to assist friends and clients to anchor their goals and intentions.
This started a journey of the amazing incense that Divinexpression sells. Until my recent trip to India, what I knew was that the incense was handmade and blessed by the monks and that they used ingredients that are herbal and all natural. In December 2006, I went to India and I visited the Ashram. While I was there, I started to realize the significance of the incense to the Ashram. The Ashram is situated in a town outside of Kolkata, West Bengal. From the outside, the Ashram looks like any other house on the block; inside, it is very different. The energy was that of a temple and yet there was a lot going on.
As I sat down and spoke to the monk, who is a family friend, he shared the story of the Ashram and how they feed and educate 36 to 40 boys from the village. The boys are chosen by the Ashram monks based on their moral characters, as well as their needs. These boys are supported, educated, and given a new way to live their lives. As we continued chatting, the monk said to me “You need to buy more incense”. When I asked him why, he said the money from the sale helps to feed and clothe the boys. It also provides the Ashram with the opportunity to assist more boys and the village as a whole. Those few moments showed me that divinexpression’s purchasing incense assists in the transformation of a village even as it assists our customers.
